Civil Designer - Drainage, roads, utilities, earthworks, pavements, transport infrastructure, building projects
Responsible for the 3D design of civil infrastructure support the delivery of multiple design packages on projects. Experience using engineering software to design roads, earthworks, drainage and other infrastructure. Responsible for development of designs, under senior engineering guidance, digital design coordination, production of modelling outputs to support engineering documentation and reporting.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
Work within a small team to develop tools and apps to meet the software requirements across the Australasia region for Arup’s Infrastructure Design, Geometric, GIS and Visualisation teams.
Assist in the maintenance of previously developed software to address bugs and produce upgrades to ensure compatibility with newer versions of design software as they become available.
Provide support for installation and trouble-shooting of tools and support key CADD personnel in each.
Work with code repositories (GitHub or similar) and track tasks performed with Jira (or similar task management systems).
Document created tools to ensure end users can easily discover features of available tools with limited individual training.
Network with similar skilled staff across the region as well as Arup offices globally to share ideas, skills and sharing developed solutions.
WHAT YOU NEED:
Demonstrated knowledge of software or web APIs and ability to quickly learn new ones.
Understanding or Experience with required design software APIs, eg. Windows, Excel, Word, AutoCAD, Projectwise, Navisworks, etc.
Effective personal time management and ability to work from own initiative to find and develop new ideas and deliver solutions.
Ability to source solutions through investigation and networking with Arup colleague's and industry specialists.
Good communication skills, ability to effectively communicate with end users on complex technical issues, including report writing and documentation

Ability to interpret and carry out instructions.
Ability to use basic theoretical knowledge of core principles relating to your discipline to analyse and interpret information.
Previous experience as an engineer/project support or similar role

Fixed term 6-month full time 37.5 hrs per week Monday to Friday
Possible extension dependant on available work on the completion of the fixed term
Start times 8.30am – 5pm (flexibility with start and finish times)
Working from 699 Collins Street, Docklands, Melbourne, combination of office and work from home
