Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Service Trainee – Youth Services Teams – Darebin City Council - Inner North – FT Join the Youth Services Team at Darebin City Council. You will have the opportunity to learn and gain a formal qualification over 12 months to continue your chosen career working within local Government. It is home to many Aboriginal community-controlled organisations, and a large number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people work, live and play within the municipality. Check out http://www.darebin.vic.gov.au/ The Job: A trainee is needed for a Certificate 3 Community Services, working within business administration and office support with opportunity to select a more specialist option depending on your interests, strengths and aspirations. The role can lead to Youth Development Officer, Youth Programs Development Officer, Youth Outreach Support Officer and Youth Engagement & Development Officer. Youth Programs and Events Trainee Support the delivery of events, activities and programs that enhance connections to the services and partnerships for young people aged 12 to 25 years of age.
What types of tasks will I be doing: General administration Quality compliance Risk management Document management and preparation Communication with internal teams and customers Data base management What you need: Must have an eye for detail Good reading and writing Some form of computer skills, previous data base management a bonus Another language other than English is a bonus Positive attitude, willingness to learn Police check will be conducted with successful candidates Must be Australian or NZ Citizen or Permanent Resident No previous Certificate 3 qualification (unless part of VCAL and you will need to provide evidence) Must be aged between 15-24 years old Council are actively encouraging applicants whom are Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply for this position. Wage: $18.13 per hour Location: Working within the Darebin City Council suburbs of Kingsbury, Northcote, Preston, Reservoir and Thornbury, and parts of Alphington, Bundoora, Fairfield, and Macleod.
